Two of our club members were fortunate to attend this gathering. Much was learned to share with our members!GFWC-SC held their Summer Session on August 15th in Columbia under the new leadership of Kaye Jones. Over 80 dedicated, compassionate ladies attended from all across the state. Our President signed a partnership agreement for our organization with the SC Coalition Against Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault SCCADVASA and we had an informative presentation from the Executive Director of The Women’s Shelter,for which we collected paper goods and cleaning supplies. The President’s Special Project this administration is focused on domestic and sexual violence awareness (Lift Them Up…Let Them Soar). Members in attendance individually signed a GFWC Pledge to Stand With Survivors and to “Stand Up, Speak Up, and Show Up” for those who have or are experiencing domestic or sexual violence. We also heard from Courtney Evans, GFWC-SC Director of Junior Clubs about her Special Project for this administration–Spread Your Wings–to end period poverty. The day was filled with great presentations, updates, and information and everyone left inspired to participate and work toward helping our communities across the state.
